CM KCR orders release of water for Khammam crops

Hyderabad; MLA Times; Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday ordered the immediate release of water from Nagarjuna Sagar through its Left Canal to ensure irrigation to two lakh acres in erstwhile Khammam district.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the instructions followed an appeal from Sattupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah who met him at Pragati Bhavan on Saturday. Veeraiah, a TDP MLA, in a submission to the Chief Minister, said standing irrigated dry crops in Sattupalli, Wyra, Khammam, Paleru and Madhira Assembly constituencies were stressed without water and needed urgent intervention to save them.
The Chief Minister, who responded positively to the plea, issued instructions to Chief Secretary SK Joshi to take steps for the release of water through the Left Canal to save the crops.
